The exhibition Fascination Paper at the Albertina Vienna is dedicated to the diversity of the medium of paper and traces its development from the 15th century to the present day. Through exceptional juxtapositions, works from the Graphic Collection, the Architecture Collection, and the Collection of Contemporary Art are brought into dialogue with contemporary works, opening up new perspectives on paper as a carrier of ideas, experimentation, and space.

Among the more recent contributions is Living Room (Closing) by Liddy Scheffknecht, a lecturer in the KKP department and an alumna of the University of Applied Arts Vienna. 

The media art collective Total View was awarded the Digital Literacy Special Prize for its project Sensing Sinicization as part of the Content Vienna 2025 competition.

Huda Takriti, die 2020 ihr Studium TransArts an der Angewandten abschloß, nahm den Kardinal König Kunstpreis am 27. November entgegen. 
Im Mittelpunkt der prämierten Arbeit On Another Note stehen die Hände von Takritis Mutter, die Fotos durchblättert und Textilarbeiten entfaltet – einige davon waren von der Großmutter bewusst unvollendet gelassen worden, damit die nachfolgenden Generationen sie nach ihrem Tod weiterführen konnten. Takriti nutzt diese Fotos und Textilien als Ausgangspunkt, um eine neue "potenzielle Geschichte" zu erzählen.

How can museums change society? What consequences can curatorial actions have? The /ecm study programme in exhibition theory and practice at the University of Applied Arts Vienna is a postgraduate, fee-based course that provides comprehensive knowledge and skills in the expanded field of museums and exhibitions.

The University of Applied Arts Vienna is delighted to announce the recent award won by Noor Stenfert Kroese, lecturer in the Art & Science department. Together with artist Amir Bastan, she was honoured with the City of Linz Art Funding Award 2025 in the category Design, New Media and Communication.

Violence against women and gender-based violence are social realities that occur worldwide and in our everyday lives. Despite political efforts and growing public awareness, current developments show that gender-based violence remains deeply rooted in social structures. This makes initiatives that empower those affected and demand institutional responsibility all the more important in order to achieve further effective measures. In this context, the University of Applied Arts Vienna is once again sending a clear signal this year and actively participating in international campaigns such as Orange the World and collaborations that educate, raise awareness and initiate change.

On the occasion of the UN campaign Orange the World for an end to violence against women and girls, we revisit the Master project of Angewandte alumna Verena Herterich (MA 2025, Department Social Design, supervised by Brigitte Felderer & Elina Kränzle). SPREADVERSCHLUSS draws attention to, and exposes, structural gender-based violence where it occurs on normalised – and often unconscious – bodily levels in public space, and where it repeatedly inscribes itself into bodies and environments.

Bouchra Khalili's video work The Mapping Journey Project has been declared one of the most significant works of contemporary art: in its latest issue, the renowned Frieze magazine published a list of the 25 best works of the 21st century.

Angelika Loderer received the Promotion Prize of the Province of Styria for Contemporary Fine Art. She studied sculpture at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in the class of Erwin Wurm from 2006 to 2011. A working grant was awarded to Hanna Besenhard, an alumna of the Department of Digital Arts (diploma 2024, supervised by Nicolaj Kirisits). Kia Sciarrone from the Department of Photography (Gabriele Rothemann) received the Viktor Fogarassy Prize along with an associated working grant.
