ESS26 – Resilience and Crises

Research funding

This call invites researchers to submit proposals for exploratory, interdisciplinary research projects that advance the conceptualization of resilience in relation to selected crises—primarily with regard to their societal dimensions. The project must be led by a social scientist. Projects should initiate structured collaboration with other scientific disciplines and with relevant practitioner communities, and employ methodological approaches capable of anticipating potential future crises.

EurAsia Young Scholars Award for Research in East and Southeast Asia (Alpha+)

Biesse International Design Award

Materials across design

The Biesse International Design Award 2026 invites students and emerging designers to develop innovative concepts for objects and furnishings capable of transforming residential and commercial spaces through a multi-material approach. Projects are expected to explore the dialogue between design, technology and materials, combining at least two materials among those processed with Biesse technologies — wood, glass, stone, plastic and composite materials, or metal — highlighting the potential of advanced manufacturing processes.

This funding is open to employees and doctoral students of the University of Applied Arts Vienna for endeavours that strengthen the Angewandte by advancing the development and exploration of interdisciplinary, scientific, and artistic research as well as other relevant fields of practice and their structures.
