The
students of the project-based seminar “Feminist Narratives and Archives” invite you to an artists' talk followed by a discussion
and exchange. With guest contributions from Ana Mikadze, Anne Glassner, Nina Hoechtl and Julia Wieger.
While
the archive has been discussed in an academic and artistic context for decades, queer-feminist approaches to thinking and
rethinking archival processes are still comparatively new territory. Few archives such as the “VBKÖ”, the “Sammlung Frauennachlässe”
or the “Zentrum für queere Geschichte” in Vienna deal specifically with collecting, processing and the visualization of feminist
biographies. But is it enough to simply expand well-known, sometimes violent structures, or is a new approach to dealing with
LGBTQIA+ history and the present needed?
With student impulses and artistic approaches, we want to shed light on
existing gaps and talk about new ways of approaching archives and biographies.
