Balance Studies. Photography
for Everyone is a conceptual photo book based on a manual proposed by Lucia Moholy in 1933. She was forced to emigrate
and was unable to complete her instruction book. With this publication, Caroline Heider explicitly places herself in the long
tradition of instruction manuals in which female photographers are advised not only to master the camera and lighting, but
above all image composition, i.e.: they should learn to see. At the same time, as a female author, she breaks with tradition,
as this type of guidebook literature is almost exclusively written from a male perspective.
